Renault is a French multinational vehicle manufacturer founded in 1898 by Louis Renault and his brothers. Louis Renault thought that to make Renault a world known brand, he would need to enter his cars into city to city races. His brothers acted as the drivers and they soon made a name for themselves in motor racing after notching up a number of impressive victories. Of course, today they are still a leading force in world motor sport.
In 1905 The Renault factories adopted more modern mass production techniques to keep u with the ever growing automobile market. During the first world war, the company produced trucks, stretchers, ambulances, shells and even the famous FT17 tanks which played a large part in ending the war.
Nowadays, Renault produces a wide range of cars and vans, and vehicles which the company used to make but does os no longer are trucks, tractors, tanks and buses and coaches.
Renault is currently the third largest automaker by production in Europe, behind Volkswagen Group and PSA, and is the ninth largest automaker (by production figures) in the world.
