Nissan Motor Company Ltd but more commonly known as Nissan, are a Japanese automaker founded in December 1933 by Yoshisuke Aikawa. In 2012, the company's production output was a whopping 4.9 million units, seeing the company bring in a revenue of 9.63 trillion Yen, with a profit of 342 billion Yen. As of June 2013, the company employed 160,530 people worldwide, with the main headquarters located in Yokohama, Japan.
In 1935, Nissan's Yokohama factory had been completed, and they began making trucks, airplanes and engines for the Japanese army in time for World War II.
Nissan has American engineer William R. Gorham to thank for much of its modern day success, as it was he who carried out the plan to use only the best cutting-edge automobile manufacturing technology from the United States. Most of Nissan's machinery and processes came from the US, which was mostly down to Gorham's input as chief designer.
Nissan throughout the years have produced a number of sexy looking cars, including the 1971 Datsun 240Z, with their most modern example being the Nissan GT-R.
